Daily Itinerary for Botanical Tour (12 Days)

  • Day 1: Arrival in Paro

    Arrive at Paro International Airport. Transfer to your hotel. After lunch, visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum to get an introduction to Bhutan’s flora and botanical diversity. Take a leisurely walk around Paro to observe the local plant species. Overnight stay in Paro.

  • Day 2: Paro – Chele La Pass – Thimphu

    Early morning drive to Chele La Pass (3,988 meters), one of Bhutan's highest motorable passes. Explore the unique alpine flora, including rhododendrons, blue poppies, and various medicinal plants. Drive to Thimphu in the afternoon and visit the Motithang Takin Preserve. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

  • Day 3: Thimphu Botanical Gardens and Parks

    Spend the day exploring the Thimphu Botanical Garden in serbithang, which is home to a diverse range of flora, including rhododendrons, magnolias, and orchids. Visit the National Institute of Traditional Medicine to learn about Bhutanese medicinal plants. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

  • Day 4: Thimphu – Punakha

    Drive to Punakha, with a stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 meters) for panoramic views of the Himalayas and a chance to explore the local flora, including various species of primulas and magnolias and also visit Botanical park at lampari. Descend to the subtropical Punakha Valley, where you can explore the rich vegetation along the riverside. Visit Punakha Dzong and the nearby suspension bridge. Overnight stay in Punakha.

  • Day 5: Punakha – Jigme Dorji National Park

    Spend the day exploring Jigme Dorji National Park, one of Bhutan's largest protected areas. Look for unique plant species such as Himalayan yew, Daphne, and rare orchids. Enjoy a packed lunch in the park. Return to Punakha for an overnight stay.

  • Day 6: Punakha – Phobjikha Valley (Gangtey)

    Drive to the beautiful Phobjikha Valley, known for its scenic landscapes and diverse flora. Visit the Gangtey Nature Trail to observe the valley’s unique plant life, including bamboo groves and meadows filled with wildflowers. Overnight stay in Gangtey.

  • Day 7: Phobjikha Valley – Bumthang

    Drive to Bumthang, the cultural heartland of Bhutan, with a stop at Trongsa to visit the Trongsa Dzong and the Ta Dzong museum. Continue to Bumthang, where you can explore local monasteries and enjoy the serene surroundings. Overnight stay in Bumthang.

  • Day 8: Bumthang – Ura Valley

    Spend the day exploring the Ura Valley, known for its beautiful landscapes and rich botanical diversity. Visit local farms and observe the cultivation of various crops and medicinal plants. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst nature. Return to Bumthang for an overnight stay.

  • Day 9: Bumthang – Thrumshingla National Park

    Spend the day exploring Thrumshingla National Park, Bhutan's largest national park, known for its rich biodiversity. Look for rare plant species such as rhododendrons, firs, and various orchids. Enjoy a packed lunch amidst nature. Return to Bumthang for an overnight stay.

  • Day 10: Bumthang – Paro

    Fly from Bumthang to Paro. Upon arrival, visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Spend the afternoon at leisure, exploring Paro town or relaxing at your hotel. Overnight stay in Paro.

  • Day 11: Paro – Tiger's Nest Monastery

    Hike to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. This challenging hike offers breathtaking views and opportunities to observe the unique plant life along the trail. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the monastery. Return to Paro for an overnight stay.

  • Day 12: Departure from Paro

    Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure. Bid farewell to Bhutan with cherished memories of its rich botanical diversity and natural beauty. Safe travels!
