Daily Itinerary for Western Bhutan Tour (8 Days)

  • Day 1: Arrival in Paro

    Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you'll be greeted by the stunning Paro Valley. Begin your journey with a visit to Rinpung Dzong, a majestic fortress-monastery overlooking the valley. Next, explore the National Museum housed in the Ta Dzong, offering insights into Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. Spend the night in Paro, preparing for the adventure ahead.

  • Day 2: Paro - Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest)

    Embark on a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger's Nest. Perched on a cliffside, this sacred site offers breathtaking views and a profound spiritual experience. In the afternoon, visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples, and the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong. Return to Paro for an overnight stay.

  • Day 3: Paro to Thimphu

    After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, which takes approximately 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, visit the impressive Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third king. Then, marvel at the massive Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the Thimphu Valley. End the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the government and the central monastic body. Explore the local markets in the evening before retiring for the night in Thimphu.

  • Day 4: Thimphu Sightseeing

    Spend a full day exploring Thimphu's cultural landmarks. Visit the Folk Heritage Museum, showcasing traditional Bhutanese rural life, and the National Textile Museum, which highlights the country's weaving traditions. In the afternoon, visit the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan's national animal, the Takin. Enjoy a leisurely evening stroll around Clock Tower Square before spending another night in Thimphu.

  • Day 5: Thimphu to Punakha

    Drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan, via the scenic Dochula Pass, which offers panoramic views of the Himalayan range. Upon arrival, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. In the afternoon, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility. Spend the night in Punakha.

  • Day 6: Punakha to Paro

    Begin the day with a hike to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a beautiful stupa built by the Queen Mother. After the hike, drive back to Paro, enjoying the picturesque landscapes along the way. Spend the evening relaxing in Paro and stay overnight.

  • Day 7: Paro - Haa Valley Excursion

    Embark on a day trip to the serene Haa Valley, crossing the Chele La Pass, the highest motorable road in Bhutan. Visit Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple) and Lhakhang Nagpo (Black Temple), both rich in history and spirituality. Return to Paro in the evening for your final night in Bhutan.

  • Day 8: Departure from Paro

    Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure, carrying with you unforgettable memories of Bhutan's cultural and natural treasures. Safe travels!
