Daily Itinerary for Heavenly Birds Tour (7 Days)

  • Day 01: (Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu)

    Usually, the inbound flights arrive to Paro latest by 1.30 PM. We shall receive at the airport with a humble welcome culture and transfer to the Thimphu. It is going to be a comfortable drive for 1 hour. Check in to the hotel, take some rest and later in the evening we shall visit the National memorial chorten.

  • Day 2: Thimphu (sightseeing)

    After a laid-back breakfast, we shall move out of the hotel by 10.00 AM. We shall visit “ Buddha point”, the largest sitting buddha statue in the world. We can spend some time enjoying the breeze and the view of the capital city. Returning to the city, we can visit the traditional paper making factory. By noon we will head to the Takin Conservation Park. Here we shall spend some time observing the takins and few other Takins mammals. Post lunch, we shall drive around to spot an archery match. Will spend some time watching the game and later retire to hotel.

  • Day 3 Thimphu to Phobjikha ( 5 hours comfortable drive)

    Will leave Thimphu 9.00 AM in the morning drive towards Phobjikha. It is going to be a long journey. We will cross Dochula pass and arrive in Nobdhing for Lunch. On the way, we will look for Yaks and their herds. If we spot, we shall spend some time observing them Phobjikha- ETA 3.00PM. Retire to hotel

  • Day 4 Phobjikha

    We will wake up early morning before the dawn and head to the observatory spot of roosting area, with the break of the day we can capture the early morning activities of the Black necked crane from a very close range ( If the guest likes it ). Return to the hotel for a nice breakfast. We shall spend the whole day exploring the valley and photographing the birds. Phobjikha valley is the winter residence for the heavenly birds- black necked cranes. We will drive around in the valley, spotting the cranes and photographing some close-up glimpse of the cranes, if fortunate we can also photograph the cranes romancing and dancing. Later in the evening, We shall visit the crane center to learn more about the birds and also visit the two survivor birds( Karma and Pema). Retire to hotel.

  • Day 5 Phobjikha to Punakha

    We shall visit the crane center to learn more about the birds and also meet the boy Jigme (if he is still in Phobjikha). We may drive around the valley and villages to catch closer spot of the birds. Later we shall also visit the famous Gangtey Monastery and move to Punakha . In. the evening, we can drive to Punakha dzong to catch the night view of the dzong. Retire to hotel in Punakha

  • Day 6: Punkaha to Paro.

    Before we head for Paro, we will make a quick visit to the village of Chimi Lhakhang to shoot the most unique culture of display of phalluses. We drive back on the same route through Dochula pass, Lam pelri and descend to Thimphu and further to Paro. In Paro, we can explore around and shoot Rinpung Dzong, Drugyel Dzong, Cover Paro River bed and also shoot in the market. Retire to hotel

  • Day 7: Departure from Paro

    We will transfer to the airport and bid farewell.
